Howdy. I've been writing automated scripts for Quality Assurance purposes for about 10 years now. I started out with Silk Test and moved over to WinRunner and then QuickTest Pro. About six months ago I took a new position and was asked to learn how to automate using Selenium.
I have to admit that at first I was horrified by what I saw with Selenium. The interface is not very intuitive, and the documentation was somewhat sparse and often hard to follow. It's been a slow process, but we are finally using Selenium IDE based scripts to do some basic regression testing on the software we support.
I thought I'd use this blog to share some of the experiences I've had while learning to use the Selenium IDE, and also to share the experience as I move forward into learning how to use Selenium RC.
